Coteaux Champenoise Rouge 'Grand Picou' Tarlant 2018

Tarlant's Coteaux Champenoise 'Grand Picou' Rouge is an excellent Pinot Noir, produced in a still style by a real Champagne craftsman. Produced from the vineyards inherited from his maternal grandparents, it is truly a wine that tells the family history of the Tarlant family, producers with roots dating back to 1780. The nose opens with lively fruit such as cherry currants and flowers to evolve into complex smoky and toasted hints. In the mouth, it offers surprising generosity, great juiciness and verticality are enhanced on the palate, of great persistence

COTEAUX CHAMPENOISE ROUGE 'GRAND PICOU' TARLANT 2018 DESCRIPTION

Tarlant's Coteaux Champenoise Rouge 'Grand Picou' represents a prestigious version of Champagne's Pinot Noir in the guise of a still red, capable of surprising from the outset with its elegant fruity and finely spiced hints. This label, produced in a very limited quantity, also expresses the territory's vocation for still wines, which have recently come to the fore. These generally follow their Burgundian counterparts, with a fresher, crisper fruitiness due to the particular latitude of the Champenoise terroir.

The 'Grand Picou' Tarlant Coteaux Champenoise Rouge is a pure Pinot Noir whose grapes come from a single 0.25-hectare vineyard in the lieu-dit of Grand Picou, located near the village of Saint-Agnan in the Vallée de la Marne Ouest. The vines stand on soil rich in limestone and are cultivated according to organic farming principles. Following the harvest, which is carried out entirely by hand, the grapes are de-stemmed, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels, accompanied by approximately 14 days of contact between the must and the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is aged on its fine lees for 2 long years in Burgundian oak barrels, a step that contributes to the wine's complexity and finesse. The final bottling then takes place without any filtration.

In the glass, Tarlant's Coteaux Champenoise Rouge 'Grand Picou' exhibits a luminous ruby red coat. The refined olfactory panorama is described by crisp scents of red fruits such as cherry and currant, followed by smoky hints and hints of underbrush and vanilla. The taste is fine and juicy, very expressive and fresh, characterised by a soft tannic texture accompanying the deep finish.
