Cumaro is the succesful result of a great commitment devoted to the promotion of territorial viticulture: since the beginning of its history, in fact, the Umani Ronchi winery has emerged as a great interpreter of one of the most representative wines of the Marche region, the Rosso Conero. For this reason, the most of the land owned by the company Human Ronchi (approximately 200 hectares divided into 10 plots) are dedicated to the enhancement of terroir and grape varieties typical of Marche. Following this approach without compromises, in the early 80s of the last century was created Cumaro, with the purpose of exalting an area, characterized by its proximity to the sea and very calcareous soils, and a grape variety, Montepulciano, through a very severe selection of grapes in the field and using modern, at least for that time, winemaking and aging techniques. Cumaro is a tribute to Monte Conero, from the greek "komaros", which means strawberry tree, an evergreen bush very common in its forests. Not too far from this characteristic vegetation, in the homonymous property located in the town of Osimo, grow the rows of Montepulciano dedicated to the production of Cumaro, part of which were subjected to replanting in recent years to optimize cropping systems. Intense and complex, Cumaro is one of the most important wines in Umani Ronchi's history and is probably the forefather of other prestigious wines produced nowadays in the area of Conero.
