Elio Altare's Dolcetto d'Alba is a classic red wine from the Langhe region, made from grapes grown in La Morra, an area renowned for its balanced wines of great expressive finesse. The decision to carry out the entire vinification process using only steel, allows the fruity notes that are typical of this indigenous Piedmontese variety, cultivated for centuries in the Alba area, to come to the fore. With its smoothness of drink and pleasant expressive immediacy, Dolcetto represents everyday wine at its best.
Dolcetto d'Alba Elio Altare is a tribute to this historic vine in the Piedmontese tradition. In the prized territory of La Morra, Dolcetto expresses its best qualities, yielding excellent, perfectly ripe grapes. Work in the vineyard is followed with scrupulous attention and respect for nature, without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or pesticides. Vinification is carried out with the aim of preserving the integrity and purity of the wines, with minimal human intervention. At the end of the harvest, the Dolcetto grapes are fermented with maceration on the skins for 2 to 3 days in temperature-controlled rotary fermenters. The wine matures for 10 months in steel tanks before being put on sale.
Elio Altare's Dolcetto d'Alba is a very pleasant, harmonious and well-balanced red wine, produced with attention to quality and territorial fidelity. In the glass it is a rather intense red-purple colour. The olfactory profile is reminiscent of the aroma of ripe cherries and small red berries, with vinous hints and shadowy scents of undergrowth and humus. On the palate it has a medium structure, with juicy, fragrant fruit, a rather dense tannic texture, a finish of balanced freshness and good taste persistence.
