ESSENZIA POJER E SANDRI 2019 - 37.5CL DESCRIPTION

L'Essenzia is a sweet wine made by the winery trentina Pojer e Sandri only in favorable vintages, when weather conditions allow to harvest during fall flawlessly healthy grapes, with intense aromas and attacked by Botrytis cinerea, a mold capable of imparting the typical musty notes that bring to mind the great French Sauternes. It is a wine of high value, complex, rich and harmonious, marked by a remarkably fascinating aromatic palette that relies on a perfect balance between fruity softness and freshness.

Essenzia Pojer e Sandri sweet wine is a cuvée made from a blend of local white grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling Renano, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, as well as some PIWI varieties. The vines are cultivated in different locations on the estate: in Faedo in the Coveli locality at an altitude of 350 meters with west-facing exposure and in the Palai locality, 700 meters above sea level, with south-facing exposure, on sandstone, marl and dolomite soils; in Grumes in the Cembra Valley, in the Maso Rella locality, at the extreme altitude of 800-900 meters, with south-facing exposure, on rocky volcanic porphyry soils. The vines are trained according to the traditional Trentino pergola method, and the harvest takes place in late November or early December, with a selection of clusters attacked by noble rot. After pressing, the dense must ferments slowly in steel tanks and is aged again in steel before being bottled.

The dessert wine Essenzia, made by Pojer e Sandri, is one of the very few muffati made in our peninsula, a precious and rare bottle to be enjoyed on special occasions with a board of blue-veined or long-aged cheeses. It seduces with a luminous light yellow colour with light golden hues and heady aromas of ripe yellow fruit, peach, dehydrated apricot, tropical hints of pineapple, mango, lychee, passion fruit, honeyed softness and refined musty nuances, which embellish the bouquet. Persuasive and harmonious, it has a dense and enveloping palate entry, with complex aromas that give a suave fruity sweetness, well balanced by a vein of clear freshness.
