Etna Bianco Contrada Taccione from the Planeta winery is a Carricante-based white wine produced in the heart of Etna's viticulture, on the northern slope of the Sicilian volcano. Fresh, rich and multifaceted, it expresses on the one hand a distinct minerality, typical of Etna wines, and on the other soft notes of acacia, prickly pear, almond and wood. To be enjoyed with a pasta with sardines to dream of unforgettable Sicilian landscapes
Etna Bianco 'Contrada Taccione' from the renowned Sicilian winery Planeta is afull, mineral expression of Carricante grapes grown on the northern slope of the volcano. This label bears witness to Planeta's adventure on Etna, a project launched in 2008 after a long search to find the best plots. While to the north of the village of Sciaranuova, part of the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, the Planeta family has invested in the conservative restoration of the ancient dwellings, using them for hospitality, the winery proper is located in Feudo di Mezzo, built in an evocative setting inside a lava flow dating back to 1556.
Planeta Etna Bianco 'Contrada Taccione' is a 100% Carricante from vines grown on black soils formed by lava sands, particularly rich in mineral elements. In particular, the vines belong to the Montelaguardia vineyard, located in Castiglione di Sicilia at an altitude of 690-720 metres above sea level and conducted according to organic farming principles. The bunches are hand-picked into crates once they have reached the right stage of ripeness and are then immediately chilled at a temperature of 6-8 °C overnight. This is followed by manual selection, destemming and soft pressing, with the must thus obtained undergoing alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, 80% of the mass in steel and the remaining 20% in 25 and 50 hectolitre oak casks and Nevers oak tonneaux, the same containers in which the wine remains to mature until bottling.
Etna Bianco Planeta 'Contrada Taccione' is a brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose has inviting hints of plum, citrus, aromatic herbs and acacia flowers, combined with a vibrant mineral tone and light nuances of bitter almond and precious woods. The palate reveals richness and freshness, with a juicy, mineral progression that anticipates sensations of yellow plum and prickly pear on the finish.
