ETNA ROSATO SCIÀRE DELL'ALBA 2020 DESCRIPTION

Etna Rosato Sciàre dell'Alba is a refined and fragrant label that highlights the Etnean territory's vocation for producing great rosés. The characteristics of the local indigenous vines, poor in anthocyanins and with their delicate and elegant aromas, combined with a cool climate characterised by significant temperature swings between day and night, are perfect for obtaining wines of great expressive finesse, clear and mineral. It is a rosé that wins you over with its floral aromas, citrusy aromas and aromas of small red berries, making it perfect to be enjoyed with first courses with prawns and langoustines or with a seafood guazzetto with tomato sauce.

The Etna Rosato Sciàre dell'Alba wine is the culmination of the quest for elegance of a young winery in Mongibello. The winery was only founded in 2009, but can count on the experience of Franciacorta winemaker Elisabetta Abrami, who, thanks to her collaboration with the Urzì family, gave life to this new project. The property extends over a few hectares in the Mascali area and is currently in conversion to organic farming. The cuvée comes from a blend of mostly Nerello Mascalese grapes with a balance of Nerello Cappuccio, which come from vineyards located on the eastern slope of Etna at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand in October and the best bunches are pressed very gently with brief contact with the skins. After decanting, the must is vinified white in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees for three months and for a year in the bottle before release.

Etna Rosato Sciàre dell'Alba is an excellent version of this difficult type of wine, perfectly expressing the character of Etna. In the glass it has a luminous light pink colour with brilliant reflections. Fine and elegant, it is characterised by a bouquet reminiscent of orange blossom scents, dried rose petals, officinal herbs, and aromas of ripe citrus fruit, raspberry, pomegranate, wild strawberries and currants. Delicate and harmonious, it has a pleasantly savoury and fruity mouthfeel, which lingers towards a finish of lively freshness.
