FALANGHINA DEL SANNIO 'JANARE' LA GUARDIENSE 2023 DESCRIPTION

La Guardiense's Falanghina del Sannio 'Janare' was born in Sannio Beneventano. La Guardiense is the largest co-operative in Campania, founded in 1960 by 33 members who shared a love for their land; today there are about a thousand farmers who take care of a total of 1,500 hectares of land completely planted with vines; over time it has earned the name of symbol of technological progress and environmental sustainability. Within this reality, the Janare project has emerged: according to local legends, the Janare were witches, bearers of identity knowledge and creatures of the people. The Janare wines thus represent the ancient Samnite tradition.

The vineyards of La Guardiense's Falanghina del Sannio 'Janare' are located between 100 and 400 metres above sea level. The average age of the vines is 10 years and they are all located in Sannio Beneventano. The soil here is of volcanic origin with the presence of ignimbrite, hardened tuff born from crystals and fragments of rock and marly stone, for a structured final product with character. The climate is characterised by cold winters often affected by snowfall and cool summers, a characteristic that ensures the grapes are fully ripe at harvest time. The grapes are harvested by hand around mid-September and continue until early October. In the cellar, white vinification takes place in the absence of oxygen and a brief cryomaceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel for about 20 days. It matures in the bottle until February following the harvest.

The colour of Falanghina del Sannio "Janare" by La Guardiense is an intense straw yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of yellow-fleshed fruit such as apple and pear, ripe tropical fruit and hints of wild flowers; on the palate it is balanced, enveloping and elegant with an almondy hint on the finish and savouriness that make for an interesting drink. It pairs perfectly with sushi and sashimi dishes, shellfish and stewed fish; also perfect with seasonal vegetable dishes and fresh cow's milk cheeses. Perfect for spring picnics in the company of friends, sipping an authentic and genuine product.
