GARNACHA ROSSO 'PIU' ANFORA TIERRA SAVIA 2023 DESCRIPTION

Anfora Rosso Garnacha 'Piu' Tierra Savia is anoriginal and rich expression of Garnacha made in old terracotta amphorae, dating back more than 200 years and created in the Sierra Morena, the Andalusian territory where the Tierra Savia winery operates. In this Mediterranean mountain environment, childhood friends Pedro Cano and José Antonio Acosta officially launched their wine project in 2013, reconnecting with the very countryside where they were born and raised. As premises for vinification and ageing, the two partners decided to convert an old craft workshop located in the centre of the town of Cazalla de la Sierra. The appellation 'Piu' pays tribute to the scarecrow that protects the estate's vineyards.

Tierra Savia Anfora Rosso 'Piu' Garnacha is made exclusively from grapes of the black berry variety of the same name grown according to the dictates of certified organic agriculture on hilly soils consisting mainly of red slate. The vines are over 20 years old and the harvest is carried out by hand in the second half of September. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in contact with the skins for a month in terracotta amphorae dating back over 200 years, the same wine containers where the mass matures for 12 months on the fine lees. This is followed by bottling and further resting in glass before final marketing.

The red 'Piu' Garnacha Anfora from the Tierra Savia estate has a brilliant ruby red colour. Aromas of small berries characterise the olfactory texture together with persuasive balsamic and floral hints. The taste development is rich and enveloping, supported by juicy freshness and a long sapid-mineral trail. Vivid fruity and balsamic sensations reappear on the finish.
