'Am Sand' is the Gewürztraminer from the Lageder winery that knows how to transport, in a glass of white, all the authenticity and tradition of the Alto Adige region and its grapes. In fact, it is made from a variety of indigenous grapes that are strongly linked to the regional wine-growing history, which come from different plots of land in the Bassa Atesina, thus succeeding in bringing together the different aromatic and characterful facets that this grape variety can be embellished with, depending on the specific location where it is cultivated. The result is an intense Gewurztraminer with a rich and engaging personality.
Alois Lageder's Gewürztraminer 'Am Sand' comes from the grape variety of the same name in purity. The vineyards of origin are all cultivated according to a biodynamic farming system, which makes the Lageder winegrowing activity an integral part of the area's harmonious natural balance. The vineyards used to make this white wine are located precisely in Termeno, Magrè and near the area of Lake Caldaro. The pedological profile of these soils is predominantly sandy and the microclimate is positively affected by a particular warmth. Whenever possible, part of the grapes are harvested with the presence of noble rot; in all other cases, the bunches are harvested at the right degree of ripeness, even resorting to repeated entries into the field. Once in the cellar, the bunches are pressed and the must is placed in steel containers to ferment through the action of the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins. Maturation takes place in the presence of the same and always in steel tanks, for a duration of about 6 months.
Lageder Gewürztraminer "Am Sand" has a straw-yellow colour that easily turns to a golden hue. The bouquet consists of tropical fruit, sweet spice and a rocky mineral trail that lends an energising freshness. Bound by the distinct savouriness, which is also perceived on the palate, it is in perfect balance with the full body. It closes with a slightly bitter finish that underlines its strong personality.
