The "Gumbe di Amirai" byTenuta Selvadolce is a 100% Granaccia red wine. On the coasts of western Liguria, this label is fermented with indigenous yeasts and left to macerate on the skins for two weeks, without any filtration or clarification. The mouthfeel is rich and well balanced, in the glass has a brilliant ruby red color with garnet reflections, with dry earthy aromas, notes of raisins and hints of tobacco.
Tenuta Selvadolce's Granaccia 'Gumbe di Amirai' represents asincere and artisanal expression of Granaccia, a black grape variety widespread in Liguria. The context surrounding Tenuta Selvadolce, a biodynamic reality in the extreme western part of Liguria, inspires serenity thanks to the beauty of its landscape, composed of centuries-old olive trees, bougainvilleas and dry stone walls supporting the vines. All with the Ligurian Sea in the background. At the helm of the winery is Aris Bancardi, a producer who, with a degree in veterinary medicine and a past as a teetotaler, approached the world of wine, deciding in 2004 that his would be a true biodynamic reality.
Tenuta Selvadolce Granaccia 'Gumbe di Amirai' originates from pure Granaccia grapes cultivated following the dictates of biodynamic agriculture on clayey-calcareous soils. The vines then benefit from the characteristic climate of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, kissed by the sun and caressed by sea breezes. Manual harvesting is followed by the mashing of the grapes in oak vats, containers in which spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place accompanied by 2 weeks of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is left to age for 12 months in cement vats and oak barrels and is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration.
In the glass, the 'Gumbe di Amirai' Tenuta Selvadolce Granaccia exhibits a bright ruby red colour with garnet hues. On the nose, earthy and fruity hints combine with sultana aromas and hints of tobacco in a fascinating and complex aromatic development, characterised by spicy and balsamic notes on the finish. The sip is rich and well-balanced, with soft tannins accompanying the dry and persistent finish. We recommend pairing this Granaccia with mature cheeses or various meat dishes.
