'KARMIS' CONTINI 2023 DESCRIPTION

Contini's "Karmis" is an intense, sunny, Mediterranean white wine, born in Sardinia in the beautiful unspoilt area of the Sinis peninsula and the Tirso river valley. It is a wine with a typically territorial profile, made from two classic grape varieties of the area: Vernaccia di Oristano and Vermentino. Along the western coast of the island, the two varieties express themselves with great richness and ripeness of fruit, combined with an iodine, savoury and marine character, a mark of a true stylistic signature of terroir. Fragrant, fruity and with a harmonious sip, it is ideal to accompany a seafood menu.

The "Karmis" Contini is the fruit of the work of one of Sardinia's most representative wineries. Contini was founded towards the end of the 19th century and has always worked to produce quality wines that enhance the native grape varieties of the Sinis territory. The wine is made from Vernaccia di Oristano and Vermentino grapes, which come from vineyards cultivated in the valley of the river Tirso. The warm Mediterranean climate, mitigated by sea breezes and the Mistral, and the predominantly alluvial soils, characterised by the presence of sand, are particularly suitable for growing white grapes. At the end of harvesting operations, the best bunches, selected directly in the vineyard, undergo a soft pressing. The must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and the wine matures in vitrified cement and steel tanks for several months before being put on sale.

The white "Karmis" is one of the most representative labels of the Sardinian Contini winery. In the glass, it is light yellow in colour, intense and luminous. The aromatic profile is rich and broad with notes of citrus fruit, citron peel, ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, hints of tropical fruit, nuances of orange blossom and acacia flowers. It has a good structure on the palate, with a soft, rich, pleasantly aromatic mouthfeel that accompanies a savoury finish of great freshness. A white wine with great personality, expressing the authentic taste of Sardinia.
