Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore "Orgiolo" produced by the famous winery Marotti Campi is a red wine with a unique and inimitable personality within the Italian wine scene. It is produced from an ancient red grape variety, grown only in the small hilly area around the village of Morro d'Alba, which survived the invasion of international varieties thanks to the tenacity and passion of a group of producers. It is an atypical red, with a floral and aromatic profile, intense and expressive, surprising and seducing precisely because of its unmistakable character.
Lacrima di Morro d'Alba "Orgiolo" was born on the estate of one of the great names in the world of Marche wines. Marotti Campi represents the oldest estate in the Morro d'Alba area, a true example of this corner of the Marche region. Today the estate covers 120 hectares of which about 50 are planted with vines, mainly with the native grape varieties, Lacrima di Morro d'Alba and Verdicchio. The Lacrima vines are grown on gentle hillsides with southern, southeastern exposure on soils of predominantly clay composition, with the presence of limestone. The grapes are soft-pressed and then fermented in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine is aged for 12 months in used barriques before the final bottling.
Marotti Campi's "Orgiolo" wine is a version of this typical Marche red of great stylistic precision and expressive elegance. Thanks to the passage in wood, the wine acquires an alluring maturity and harmony, making it very balanced. The color is dark ruby red with purple highlights. The bouquet is striking, with scents of rose petal, violet, and rosehip, accompanied by aromas of ripe cherry, small berries and hints of Mediterranean maquis herbs. The sip is soft and enveloping, with fine tannins and floral aromas. The finish is pleasantly fruity and of good persistence.
