Macon Blanc 'Le Grand Bois' Joseph Lafarge 2022

Joseph Lafarge's Macon Blanc 'Le Grand Bois' is a fun, ready-to-drink Chardonnay, ideal to uncork on a hot summer's day with a good tuna carpaccio. It comes to life in Burgundy, from limestone and clay soils and is vinified respecting the initial product, using indigenous yeasts. The result is a Macon Blanc with fruity notes of pear and lemon zest, mineral hints and unexpected hints of incense

MACON BLANC 'LE GRAND BOIS' JOSEPH LAFARGE 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Macon Blanc 'Le Grand Bois' represents the flagship of Domain Joseph Lafarge, being a refined expression of a monopole. The French term "monopole" refers to specific vineyard sites that are cultivated and vinified exclusively by a single winery, which holds the monopoly over them. Domain Joseph Lafarge is located precisely in the lieu-dit 'Les Grands Bois', situated in the wine region of Mâconnais, where in 2011 the Lafarge family established the wine tourism structure Le Clos du Grand Bois, renamed two years later as Domain Joseph Lafarge.

The Macon Blanc Domain Joseph Lafarge 'Le Grand Bois Monopole' is produced with only Chardonnay grapes grown sustainably in the cru of Le Grand Bois, characterized by an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. The approximately 30-year-old vines benefit from the limestone-clay soils and south to southeast exposure. After mechanical harvesting, the grapes are transferred to the cellar and vinified in white through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks carried out by indigenous yeasts at low temperature. The 14-month aging phase then takes place in stainless steel before the final bottling, without the use of wood that could alter the unique expression of this monopole.

The 'Les Grand Bois Monopole' Macon Blanc Domain Joseph Lafarge has a bright straw yellow color tending towards gold. The aromatic profile opens with sensations of pear, ginger, and lemon zest, followed by distinctive notes of incense and flint. The palate showcases excellent balance between round softness and citrusy freshness, combining in an elegant and vibrant progression, with great momentum and grace.
