MALBEC 'R-EVOLUTION' OENOSAPIENS 2021 DESCRIPTION

With its fruity and pleasantly peppery character, Malbec 'R-Evolution' is the first fruit of the recent Oenosapiens oenological project, enthusiastically initiated by the three young Italian oenologists Filippo, Federico and Giacomo. The Oenosapiens idea originates from the desire of the three oenologists to enhance viticultural excellence and small producers of lesser-known appellations, always under the banner of environmental and production sustainability. In particular, 'R-Evolution' was born in the Valle de Lot, in Cahors, an area of excellence for the Malbec vine.
The 'R-Evolution' Malbec of the Oenosapiens winery is made exclusively from Malbec grapes from vines of an average age of around 30 years, grown on alluvial soils composed mainly of clay, silica, iron and limestone. When the grapes have reached full ripeness, harvesting and red vinification take place in stainless steel tanks, with alcoholic fermentation entrusted exclusively to indigenous yeasts, accompanied by 10-12 days of maceration on the skins at a low temperature, in the region of 20-25 °C. The ensuing maturation period of about 6 months also takes place in steel before bottling and final marketing.
On visual inspection, the Oenosapiens 'R-Evolution' Malbec presents itself with a purplish red colour. The nose offers fascinating suggestions of violet, blueberry and blackberry, enriched by perceptions of black pepper and pink pepper. Juicy and delicate on the palate, with soft tannins and pleasant freshness that give dynamism and vitality. By virtue of its exceptional agility and smoothness, this artisanal red wine is an ideal accompaniment to platters of mature cheeses and cured meats, white meats or savoury first courses.
