Mezcal Joven Guerrero Cupreata El Occidental

El Occidental's Mezcal Joven Guerrero Cupreata is a white distillate made from fine agave. The plants are cultivated and then processed in the state of Guerrero, south of the capital at high altitude. The must is fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts and then distilled twice before bottling. With a vibrant and fresh sip, this Latin 'spirit' fully embodies the spirit of Mexico: perfect to drink neat, in party or relaxation settings

MEZCAL JOVEN GUERRERO CUPREATA EL OCCIDENTAL DESCRIPTION

Mezcal Joven El Occidental Guerrero Cupreata is an artisanal mezcal with a creamy, floral style of remarkable expressive purity. The agave destined for this mezcal grows on the high altitude soils of the Mexican state of Guerrero, which belong to the luvisol and regosol types. The former is a category of soils characterised by a surface layer of humus above a washed-out layer practically devoid of clay and a third horizon rich in clay and mineral substances. On the other hand, regosol soils, typical of arid or very cold climates, are characterised by the absence of consolidated material, resulting in a soil almost devoid of horizons. From these soil types, artisanal producer Crystian Casarrubias obtains the agave destined for the El Occidental brand mezcal.

El Occidental's Mezcal Guerrero Cupreata Joven originates from only agave of the Cupreata variety, otherwise known as Maguey Papalote, harvested at an altitude of 1,444 metres above sea level in the state of Guerrero. The heart of the plant is processed through a long cooking process lasting 3 days in underground ovens, followed by mechanical grinding to obtain the sugary juice contained within. This undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats and the fermented product then undergoes a double distillation in copper stills. The mezcal is finally bottled as Joven, without passages in wood.

To the eye, Mezcal El Occidental Joven Cupreata Guerrero is transparent and crystal clear. The aromatic profile is defined by intense floral and herbaceous sensations, enhanced by mineral nuances. In the mouth it is creamy and enveloping, with a persistent finish in which the perceptions of the nose reappear.
