Villa Medoro's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a fresh, harmonious, and expressive interpretation of the principal red grape of Abruzzo. Villa Medoro, a young and modern winery in the Teramo area, is establishing itself as a reference point for simple, terroir-driven wines with an excellent quality-to-price ratio.
The Montepulciano grapes that give rise to this red wine originate from the extensive vineyards of Villa Medoro, located along the Teramo hills on soils composed of marine clays and limestone at 200 meters. The vines are trained using traditional pergola, tendone, and espalier systems. In the cellar, modern and technological equipment is employed in service of traditional practices: the must ferment in steel and remain in contact with the skins for 20 days throughout the vinification phase. Afterwards, the wine matures in steel for 18 months and is then bottled, preserving its most authentic primary and varietal aromas.
Villa Medoro's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a candid, simple, and authentic expression of Abruzzo. It presents a ruby red colour with youthful violet flashes. On the nose, it releases fresh and inviting scents of violets, wild berries, pink pepper, and cloves. The palate reveals immediacy, balance, and harmony: the aromatic richness typical of Montepulciano is supported by good freshness and well-integrated tannins. This is an excellent everyday red wine to be paired with simple dishes: meat, cold cuts, moderately aged cheeses, and flavorful first courses.
