Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Marina Cvetic" is a full-bodied and structured wine, one of the most famous reserves of Masciarelli winery, aged in barrique for at least 12 months and for 6 more months in bottle. Ample and powerful on the nose, with aromas of black cherries, fruit jam, panforte and Mediterranean scrub, on the palate it is warm, soft, full and complex, with an enveloping and elegant tannin
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva "Marina Cvetic" is the indisputable flagship of the renowned Abruzzo winery Masciarelli. One of the most historic and established wineries on the Italian wine scene, born from the entrepreneurial genius of Gianni Masciarelli in San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti.
The first vintage produced of this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva by Masciarelli is the 1997, designed as a sweet tribute by Gianni to the woman who changed his life forever: Marina Cvetic. An archetypal emblem of modern Montepulciano, it is the result of a blend of different plots characterized by various and unique microclimates. The grapes for this Riserva come from eight communes, spread over three different provinces, with altitudes ranging from 200 to 400 meters above sea level. These include the notorious cru of Colle di Paolo, Fonte Filippo, Schiavone and Colle Rosina. Once the grapes reach the winemaking cellar, they are vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled and constant temperature, and the wine will then be aged for at least 12 months, depending on the vintage, in first- or second-passage French oak barriques
Masciarelli winery's Riserva Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Marina Cvetic" is a juicy, pulpy squeeze of cherry in all its facets, from under-ripe black cherry to summer cherry and jam. It exhales in heady notes of sweet spices such as cardamom, tobacco, licorice and star anise, accompanied by a balsamic base of mulberry and eucalyptus. In the mouth, it enters assertive, energetic and velvety, and is satisfyingly rich, endowed with an elegant tannic guise that is well integrated into the palate. The right label to savor a concentrated and traditional sip of true and sincere Abruzzo!
