Ettore Germano's Langhe Nascetta is an intense Langa white, made with one of the few indigenous whites from this area known for its reds. The winery presents a wine that is decidedly original for the region: fermentation in steel, maceration for 10 days on the skins and ageing in amphora. This gives structure and a lot of character, as well as an intense colour. The nose has aromas of aromatic herbs with fruity hints and slight hints of iodine. A true wine of the Langa, it has great structure and surprising sapidity
The Langhe Nascetta from the family-run wine cellar Ettore Germano represents atypically fresh and mineral expression of this rare grape variety native to the Langhe area, rediscovered and valorised only in recent times and interpreted by the Germano family in an orange wine version. Nascetta is a semi-aromatic white grape variety native to the Alba hills, widely used in ancient times as a blending grape. There are numerous documents dating back to the 19th century in which this variety, appreciated for its goodness and finesse, is mentioned. Its gradual abandonment by winegrowers, on the other hand, is to be sought in its inconstant production, a characteristic that, combined with the success of Barolo, contributed to the drastic reduction in the area devoted to it.
Ettore Germano Langhe Nascetta originates from only grapes of the white berry variety of the same name grown at an altitude between 500 and 560 metres above sea level, on silty, calcareous and stony soil with a south-eastern exposure. Manual harvesting into boxes is followed by destemming and crushing of the grapes, with alcoholic fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks accompanied by 10 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent maturation phase takes place in terracotta amphorae, containers in which the wine rests for 8-10 months until final bottling.
Ettore Germano's Langhe Nascetta has an intense straw yellow colour with golden hues. The aromatic bouquet expresses inviting sensations of lemon peel and white flowers, enhanced by hints of aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme, as well as iodine nuances on the finish. The progression on the palate reveals marked freshness and tanginess, as well as great body and long aromatic persistence.
