Pinot Grigio Lis Neris represents very well the great Friulian tradition in the production of intense, harmonious and full-bodied whites. This fragrant and fruity Pinot Grigio is no exception, reflecting the personality of the grape variety and the characteristics of the place of production. The Isonzo area, with its almost Mediterranean atmosphere, favours excellent ripening of the grapes, which makes it possible to produce whites with a distinct gastronomic vocation. It is a perfect label to bring to the table to accompany risottos with vegetables, main courses of fish or delicate white meats.
Pinot Grigio wine is born in the lands of the Isonzo plain, where Lis Neris manages an estate of about seventy hectares, growing the most important grape varieties in the area. The Pinot Grigio vineyards are located in the area on the right bank of the Isonzo River, in the municipal territory of San Lorenzo Isontino. The vines have an average age of 15 years and are planted at an altitude of 60 meters above sea level on a plateau formed by gravelly alluvial deposits of a predominantly limestone matrix. The climate, which is mild and always breezy due to the influence of breezes coming up from the nearby Adriatic Sea, has proven to be very suitable for growing white grapes. Agronomic management is based on carefully limiting the use of treatments and using only organic fertilization. After soft pressing, the must ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature of about 20°C. Before bottling, the wine matures for 8 months in steel tanks on the lees, with frequent bâtonnage.
The white Pinot Grigio produced by Lis Neris is a fine version of this French grape variety, particularly loved on international markets for its generous face and harmonious aromatic richness. The Isonzo area proved to be particularly suited to its needs, and today it represents one of the most important wines in the area. To the eye, it has a light straw-yellow colour. The nose offers a rich and intense aromatic spectrum, with aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus aromas, soft nuances of tropical fruit, almond and spice aromas. The sip is broad and satisfying, with ripe, dense fruit. The finish is balanced with good flavour persistence.
