Bastianich's Pinot Grigio is a wine of great versatility and elegance, bearing witness to the deep connection between the well-known Bastianich family and the Friulian territory, including its indigenous grape varieties. It's a story with profound roots, strongly influenced by a deep passion for wine and the region's growth in producing quality bottles. A journey to rediscover their origins led the Bastianich family, now residing in America, to plant their first vineyards in Buttrio and Cividale del Friuli. The goal from the outset was to create wines linked to their place of origin yet capable of standing out for body, persuasiveness, and structure. Judging by the winery's success, these expectations have been met and exceeded.
Bastianich's Pinot Grigio comes from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes from vineyards in the Cividale area, within the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The vines, ranging from 5 to 25 years old, are planted on marly-calcareous soils using a Guyot training system with medium density. The harvest is carried out manually, allowing for a meticulous selection of the best grapes, both in the vineyard and later in the cellar. Thanks to the use of modern and state-of-the-art machinery, all processes, from vinification to ageing in steel, are perfectly managed and controlled. Further refinement on the fine lees for six months adds greater complexity and richness to the wine, making it ready for market.
This white Pinot Grigio from Bastianich has a deep straw yellow colour. The nose immediately offers a succession of sensations linked to crisp fresh fruits, such as Golden apple and pear, alternating with hints of white flowers, among which lime blossom and jasmine stand out. The palate is beautiful, full yet extremely smooth, balancing initial softness with a refined salinity that emerges in the finish. It captivates with its nearly boundless versatility, allowing it to pair with countless fish-based dishes as well as white meat. It's a small price for a great wine.
