Pinot Grigio "Unterebner" by Tramin is a white wine from Alto Adige region agend oak casks and tonneaux for 11 months. Complex and rich, citrusy and persistent. With hints of pear, tobacco, mango, pomelmo, vanilla and incense
Tramin's "Unterebner" Pinot Grigio is a tale of South Tyrolean finesse. While the Pinot Grigio grape is abundant in the neighbouring Trentino region, here it gains a particular charm from the local terroir. It's the result of the Alpine breeze, rocky soil, and dramatic temperature fluctuations that define its aromatic finesse. Tramin Winery is located in Termeno, but the vineyards that yield the grapes are also spread across the municipalities of Egna, Ora, and Montagna. The heart of the winery lies in the growers who contribute their grapes from their mostly small-sized plots.
"Unterebner" by Tramin is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes. The vines have an average age ranging from 10 to 30 years and are planted in gravelly, calcareous, and clayey soils with a porphyritic base. The vineyards are situated between 400 and 600 meters above sea level, predominantly facing southeast. Harvesting is done manually, with careful selection of the clusters, typically towards the end of September. Once the grapes are pressed and the must is obtained, it undergo alcoholic fermentation in wooden barrels and partially in tonneaux, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine continues to mature on its lees in these containers until the end of August. After bottling, it further matures for another 3 months before being released to the market.
Tramin's Pinot Grigio "Unterebner" displays a golden yellow colour in the glass. Its aroma delicately interplays with notes of pear, hay, and toasted bread against a backdrop of spices like vanilla and incense. The palate entry is full and dense, accompanied by a lovely freshness. It's a wine with a rich personality, capable of captivating the senses.
