This Pinot Noir is produced by one of the most important names in South Tyrolean wine. The Gottardi family, originally from Mazzon, has been trading wines in Austria for more than a century and runs a store in Innsbruck. In the 1960s, it began growing vines and making wine, soon establishing itself as one of the benchmark estates in the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir scene. The wine is the pure and direct expression of the grapes that come from the vineyards of Mazzon, one of the most vocated areas in Italy for growing Pinot Noir. The altitude, together with a perfect exposure to the sun and good temperature ranges make this small plateau above Egna a true cru, allowing grapes of absolute excellence to ripen. The best bunches are sent to the fermentation stage, which takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with classic maceration on the skins. The wine matures for one year in barriques, ¼ new, and another 8 months in large barrels.
