Primitivo di Manduria Riserva Doppio Passo is an intense and structured red wine, with a very soft and persuasive profile. Perfect interpreter of the warm and Mediterranean face of the land of Apulia, it is made from the grape variety that is the symbol of the Manduria area. The richness and aromatic density of the grapes give subtle notes of ripe red fruit, well complemented by elegant tertiary nuances, deriving from ageing in wood, which increase its expressive complexity. It is a great gastronomic wine, enveloping and satisfying, which pairs very well with grilled meats, roast beef and spit-roasted game.
The Primitivo di Manduria Riserva wine originates in the Doppio Passo estate, which is part of the important Veneto-based Botter Group, owner of estates in several Italian regions. The vineyards are located in the Salice Salentino area and cover a total area of 1,500 hectares. The climate is hot and dry, mitigated only by the sea breeze. The soils are predominantly composed of clays and sands, resting on deep limestone substrates. Once the harvest is complete, the best bunches are destemmed and the grapes undergo pre-fermentation maceration at a temperature of around 12 °C. Vinification then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period on the skins of two to three weeks. The wine matures for a total of 24 months, of which at least 9 months are spent in wooden barrels.
The red Primitivo di Manduria Riserva Doppio Passo is perfect for those who love soft, fruity, intense and pleasantly satisfying wines. It presents itself in the glass as a beautiful dark ruby red with luminous purple reflections. Ample and rich, it releases exuberant aromas of ripe fruit, especially red-fleshed plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, black cherries in alcohol, soft spices, vanilla, toasted hints, dark chocolate, bitter cocoa and light woody nuances. On the palate it is warm with a suave, very rich and aromatically dense mouthfeel, enveloped by a velvety tannic texture, which accompanies a harmonious, long and very persistent finish.
