RIESLING GRAND CRU 'SOMMERBERG' AIMÉ STENTZ RIEDEL GLASS SET DESCRIPTION

The Grand Cru 'Sommerberg' is a Riesling produced by Aimé Stentz, which is offered in combination with a pair of Riedel Veritas Riesling glasses. Their profile has been specially designed to bring out the best of the aromatic character of this great Central European grape variety. The glasses are handmade of blown glass and, thanks to their elegant, elongated shape, allow the intensity typical of the grape variety and the delicate balance of taste between vibrant freshness and fruity softness to be brought to the nose. The sourcing of the grapes from a particularly well-suited parcel and the ageing in the wood give the wine extraordinary depth and persistence.

The Riesling Grand Cru 'Sommerberg' from the Alsatian winery Aimé Stentz is the fruit of centuries of experience of five generations. The estate was created at the beginning of the 20th century and today manages 14 hectares of vineyards with plots in no less than five Grand Cru: Steingrübler, Hengst, Sommerberg, Florimont and Pfersigberg. The vineyards are managed according to organic farming principles, respecting the natural ecosystem. The Grand Cru Sommerberg is a particularly valuable terroir located 400 metres above sea level, with a south-facing exposure. The area is characterised by sandy soils very rich in mineral elements, resulting from the disintegration of granite and silicon-rich rocks, the 'Turckheim mica'. The Riesling vines are over 30 years old and cultivated on steep, well-drained, sunny slopes. When fully ripe, the grapes are harvested by hand, and the best bunches are gently pressed. The flower must ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. According to tradition, the wine matures for about a year in large oak barrels that are over a century old.

The white Riesling Grand Cru 'Sommerberg' Aimé Stentz, accompanied by the Riedel Veritas Riesling Goblets, is a perfect proposition for connoisseurs who wish to taste the noble northern grape variety at its best, appreciating it in all its subtlest nuances. To the eye, it has a bright and brilliant straw-yellow colour. The bouquet reveals floral aromas, citrus peel notes, peach and quince aromas, yellow-fleshed fruit, hints of medicinal herbs and mineral sensations of wet stone and gunpowder. Taut and vertical, it has a deep, assertive entry on the palate, with a clear saline trail that accompanies a very fresh finish.
