ROSÉ 'ROSA GRANDE' MESA 2022 DESCRIPTION

From the knowledge of the territory, the passion for quality and the desire to go beyond tradition comes this blend of Syrah and Vermentino that aims to be a new tribute to the terroir of Sulcis and its uniqueness. A bouquet of flowers and fruits that strikes for its breadth, variety and richness. "Rosa Grande" from the Mesa winery is a wine pinky fruity and juicy produced in Sant'Anna Arresi, a town in the province of South Sardinia, in the historical region of Sulcis-Iglesiente. It is made from grapes Syrah and Vermentino from vineyards facing southwest and located at different altitudes. The vines are trained using the espalier method with spurred cordon pruning on medium-textured, skeleton-rich soils, characterized by sandy and limestone-clay soils. The winery, founded in 2004 by publicist Gavino Sanna, is part of the Santa Margherita group and can now count on about 70 hectares under vine located in an area extraordinarily suited to viticulture.

"Rosa Grande" Mesa is made from carefully selected Syrah and Vermentino grapes harvested by hand generally around the first decade of September. The clusters, brought to the winery, are gently crushed and then undergo a prefermentative cold maceration on the skins, for at least 12 hours, before being subjected to soft pressing and subsequent alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 16-18 °C. This is followed by stabilization in stainless steel, after which the wine is racked and aged in glass containers for at least 2 months before bottling and subsequent release.

Rosé "Rosa Grande" presents itself to the eye with a beautiful soft, bright cherry pink color. On the nose appear intense aromas of red fruit, including cherry, raspberry and currant, floral notes of wild rose and herbs, including thyme, and then turn to slightly spicy hints of sweet spices. In the mouth it is juicy, soft and enveloping, marked by good body and a pleasant freshness that enlivens the sip. An expressive rosé with character that tells precisely and without smearing the wonderful terroir from which it comes.
