The ideal climate, vocated soils and a centuries-old wine culture make the Bordeaux region a true cradle of extraordinary wines. The label perfectly represents the classic profile of the territory's best tradition, with a harmonious, elegant wine capable of perfectly combining pleasant fruity richness with tertiary notes, the result of long ageing in noble woods. It is an absolutely must-try label, already enjoyable now, but with an ageing potential of at least ten years.
Saint-Émilion Château Barrail Saint André Grand Cru comes from Merlot vines grown in an area of the winery's estate characterized by the presence of limestone-clay soils. The clusters ripen perfectly thanks to a mild climate, influenced by breezes from the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of the Gironde estuary basin, which acts as a natural thermoregulator of temperatures, avoiding spring frosts and the excessive heat of sunny summer days. After the best bunches are selected, the grapes are sent to fermentation, with maceration on the skins lasting about 3 weeks. According to the customs of the area, before bottling, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% new and the rest second-passage.
The Grand Cru Saint-Émilion Château Barrail Saint André from the Domaine Vignobles Coutant is a fascinating read that faithfully interprets the style of the place.
