SANGIOVESE RUBICONE ROSATO 'PORTOCANALE DI CESENATICO' LEONARDO DA VINCI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Sangiovese Rubicone Rosato 'Portocanale di Cesenatico' from the Leonardo da Vinci cooperative is a bottle that stands out for its drinkable and refreshing taste, ideal for those seeking a pleasant but not demanding drink. Part of the '1502 da Vinci in Romagna' collection, the Rubicone Rosato 'Portocanale di Cesenatico' is produced from grapes grown in the heart of Romagna, of which this label represents the most delicate face. Its appellation is a tribute to the Leonardesque Canal Harbour of Cesenatico, an important monument built at the beginning of the 14th century that in 1502 was the object of an inspection by Leonardo da Vinci, commissioned by Cesare Borgia to verify the civil and military infrastructures of the new dukedom of Romagna.

The 'Portocanale di Cesenatico' Leonardo da Vinci Sangiovese Rubicone Rosato originates from a solid base of Sangiovese grapes combined with 15% other black varieties. The grapes are grown within the municipalities of Castrocaro Terme, Predappio and Bertinoro, at altitudes between 50 and 100 metres above sea level on soils consisting of clay and silt at the foot of the hills, with a greater presence of skeleton near the Apennines. In the cellar, the grapes undergo soft pressing to extract the desired colour, followed by alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled steel tanks with selected yeasts. Also in steel, the wine is matured for 2 months on fine lees.

The Rubicone Sangiovese 'Portocanale di Cesenatico' Rosato of the Leonardo da Vinci winery is pale pink in colour. The nose offers delicate fruity hints of peach and apricot together with marked floral hints. Fresh, delicate and savoury on the palate, characterised by a crisp finish.
