SPUMANTE METODO CLASSICO 'BLANC BRUT 50 MESI' TERRAZZE DELL'ETNA 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Metodo Classico sparkling wine "Blanc Brut 50 months" is an elegant Millesimato with good aromatic complexity, which comes from Chardonnay vines cultivated in the marvellous Etna area. The decision to use the Burgundy grape variety gives the sparkling wine the task of synthesising the strong territorial imprint of Mongibello's volcanic soils with the grapes' international profile. The result is a rich and mature Metodo Classico, with fruity notes enhanced by refined sensations of tertiary evolution, due to the long period of ageing on the lees.

The Metodo Classico 'Blanc Brut 50 months' represents an interesting excellence on the Sicilian sparkling wine scene. It is produced by Terrazze dell'Etna, a young company that, thanks to the selection of excellent plots of land, is able to produce wines of high quality and strongly representative of the territory. The Chardonnay grapes come from vines cultivated in the Randazzo area, on the north-west slope of the volcano, at an altitude between 750 and 950 above sea level, on lava matrix soils composed of sand and rocks. The climate, which is warm and Mediterranean, is cooled by sea breezes and strong temperature swings between day and night temperatures. The grapes are softly pressed and the must is fermented in steel tanks. The base wines mature a few months before being blended to make the final cuvée. The second fermentation is then carried out in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico, with a minimum period of 50 months' bottle ageing before dégorgement.

Blanc Brut 50 months' is a Metodo Classico produced by Terrazze dell'Etna, which confirms the exceptional vocation of this volcanic terroir to also produce excellent sparkling wines. In the glass it has a light straw yellow colour with slight greenish reflections, crossed by a delicate and continuous perlage. The bouquet expresses floral aromas, aromas of ripe yellow fruit, soft pastries and spices. The palate is rich and creamy, with a long, deep sip that closes with a savoury trail and lively freshness. A label to try to discover the effervescent charm of Etna.
