Spätburgunder ‘QW’ Weingut Wolf 2020

The Spätburgunder 'QW' by Weingut Wolf is a German Pinot Noir with a surprising drinkability, it is produced by a distinctly artisanal winery. The soils of the palatinate, rich in chalk, give a rare finesse to this red. It is an exuberant wine: decidedly fruity, the bouquet is completed with fine spicy hints on the finish. Free-flowing and very juicy on the palate, surprising for the combination of intensity and lightness. Try it with spicy meats

SPÄTBURGUNDER ‘QW’ WEINGUT WOLF 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Spätburgunder 'QW' by Weingut Wolf is a red wine from Germany that stands out for its fresh and fragrant aromas of red fruits. Embracing a holistic biodynamic approach, Dennis Wolf, the fifth generation of winemakers, takes care of vineyards classified as Grosse Lage, the German equivalent of Grand Cru, and Erste Lage, the equivalent of Premier Cru, located in the Palatinate wine region, the second warmest in all of Germany. In fact, the climate of the area even allows for the cultivation of figs and kiwi, thus enabling Dennis to cultivate a wide range of grape varieties.

The 'QW' Weingut Wolf Spätburgunder is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the Laumersheimer Steinbuckel plot, classified as a Grosse Lage vineyard, managed according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The vines are planted in soils rich in limestone and gypsum, and the grapes are handpicked only when fully ripe. They are then immediately transported to the winery for red vinification with 25% whole clusters and alcoholic fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts, accompanied by 21 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent aging phase takes place in old tonneaux on fine lees for 18 months, during which spontaneous malolactic fermentation also occurs, and the wine is finally bottled without undergoing any filtration and with a minimal dose of added sulfites.

The Spätburgunder 'QW' by Weingut Wolf displays a light ruby red color. The nose offers vivid sensations of red fruits and violets, as well as deeper notes of sweet spices like cinnamon. Woody and smoky nuances emerge on the finish, anticipating an intense and smooth sip, characterized by juicy freshness and fine tannins. The finish echoes fragrant fruity perceptions and hints of char.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
