Tintilia from the Di Majo Norante winery is an intense, sunny, Mediterranean red wine made from the native Molise grape variety of the same name. It is a red wine with a typically territorial face, allowing one to get to know and appreciate the qualities of an ancient red grape variety, which has been rediscovered in recent decades, thanks to the commitment and tenacity of a number of local winemakers. The short ageing in wood does not change the character of Tintilia, which presents itself with its intense notes of berries, humus, liquorice and spices. Rich and velvety, it is a red to be enjoyed with a mixed grilled grill.
Tintilia wine comes from the estate of one of Molise's most famous and important producers. Di Majo Norante is a historic name in the region, which can boast family traditions in viticulture dating back to the 19th century. He grows his vines in the countryside of Campomarino Lido, in the first hilly hinterland between Termoli and Lesina Marina. It is an area with a Mediterranean climate, always very windy and characterized by rather poor, loose and sandy soils. The great merit of the winery is that it is committed to valuing native varieties, such as Tintilia, without yielding to the allure of the more famous international grape varieties. A choice in favour of the typicality of the territory to produce wines that are the fruit of history and traditions. Its labels have brought Tintilia to be known and appreciated even internationally, precisely because of its unique and special character and its authenticity and directness.
The red Tintilia from the Di Majo Norante winery is a wine of tradition, representing the oldest customs of the land of Molise. The vines are grown on the hills not far from the sea in the ancient feud of the Marquises of Norante di Santa Cristina. The grapes undergo a classic red vinification, with maceration in contact with the skins lasting about a month. The wine rests for 8 months in oak casks and completes the ageing period with 6 months in the bottle. In the goblet, it has a deep ruby red colour with youthful purplish highlights. The nose releases a bouquet characterized by aromas of dark berry fruits, hints of humus and underbrush, and notes of leather, spices and liquorice root. The sip is rich and smooth, with silky, evolved tannins and a harmonious, balanced finish.
