"Vigna Tonda" is an Umbrian white wine that comes from a little-known local grape, the Trebbiano Spoletino, vinified in terracotta and ceramic amphorae, with maceration on the skins. The aromatic tone is composed of notes of tropical fruit, citrus peel, dried apricots and sweet spices. On the palate it is round and generous, embellished with a popping freshness and a light tannin

Antonelli San Marco winery's Trebbiano Spoletino "Vigna Tonda" is one of the most interesting expressions of this historic Umbrian grape variety, which has been rediscovered in recent years and is proving to possess excellent qualities and remarkable ductility in the field of winemaking. To make this label, the route of vinification in ceramic dolium with maceration on the skins was chosen, so as to obtain an intense, rich white with a particularly complex face. A label that was created to enhance an estate cru and to highlight the potential of a grape variety yet to be discovered.
"Vigna Tonda" Trebbiano Spoletino was born in one of the most famous wineries in the Montefalco area. Antonelli San Marco runs an estate of 170 hectares, about 50 of which are dedicated to viticulture. In addition to Sagrantino, Sangiovese and Grechetto, Filippo Antonelli has been working passionately on Trebbiano Spoletino for several years. The grapes come, in fact, from the vineyard of the same name, a real estate cru, already present on a 1902 map of the Antonelli estate. A circular vineyard was planted in the same place, using a mass selection of Trebbiano Spoletino derived from old plants marinated with maple trees. The vineyard is located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level with a western exposure. At the end of the harvest, the clusters are started in a spontaneous fermentation without temperature control, with a long maceration of the skins in ceramic containers. Before release for sale, the wine is aged for several months in wood.
"Vigna Tonda" represents a new challenge for the Antonelli San Marco winery, which has decided to dedicate a new project to a native grape variety of the territory that has been forgotten for too long. It is one of the most interesting white grape varieties of central Italy, already much loved by the most attentive and curious wine lovers. Its beautiful golden yellow color tells of a mature and rich wine. Maceration on the skins imparts intense aromas of yellow fruit, hints of citrus peel, floral and herbal nuances. The broad, rich and satisfying sip captivates with juicy fruit, well balanced by vibrant acidity and a saline finish. One of the most interesting macerated wines on the Italian scene.
