Uno Tenuta di Carleone 2020
Tenuta di Carleone

Uno Tenuta di Carleone 2020

This 'Uno' from Tenuta di Carleone represents the essence of Radda in Chianti and of Sangiovese. It comes from a careful selection of the best grapes, cultivated and vinified with minimal intervention. A special feature of the winery are the unique open 'bins', in which the wine undergoes its first hours of fermentation. The result is a very typical wine with hints of red fruits, leather and tobacco and orange developments. The sip is very fresh, fine and with great persistence. A territorial red, capable of evolving beautifully over time

UNO TENUTA DI CARLEONE 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Sangiovese 'Uno' is among Tenuta di Carleone's most representative labels, capable of surprising for its breadth and expressive elegance, as well as for its surprising drinkability. Founded in 2012 in Radda in Chianti, a municipality located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, Tenuta di Carleone has quickly established itself as one of the territory's finest newcomers, on the strength of a modern, artisanal production vision. The objective of owner Karl Egger and oenologist Sean O'Callaghan is to enhance the truest expression of terroir, resulting in wines with a precise identity, authentically Radda.

Tenuta di Carleone 'Uno' is a pure expression of Sangiovese from vines grown in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming and biodynamic agriculture. Only the best grapes are destined for the production of this wine, with the bunches, harvested strictly by hand, being vinified in cement tanks and open vats. Here, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place accompanied by 40-60 days of maceration on the skins. After racking, the mass is placed to age partly in cement vats and partly in stainless steel tanks, with just 10% maturing in new French oak tonneaux, all for a total period of 18 months. The wine is finally bottled without undergoing any invasive clarification or filtration.

In the glass, Tenuta di Carleone's Sangiovese 'Uno' exhibits an intense ruby red mantle. Decisive aromas of cherry and raspberry characterise the olfactory panorama along with intriguing hints of leather and tobacco and slight hints of orange peel. The progression on the palate is fresh, refined and delicately tannic, with a very long persistence in which the fruity and spicy notes previously perceived on the nose return.
