VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO SUPERIORE 'CAMPI MAGRI' CAMERANI - CORTE SANT'ALDA 2020 DESCRIPTION

Corte Sant'Alda's Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore "Campi Magri" is distinguished from the rest of the area's production by a profile of great elegance and aromatic intensity. The craftsmanship used both between the rows and in the cellar makes it possible to obtain a red wine capable of combining the fragrance of a still crisp fruit, enhanced by the more evolved notes due to the ripasso technique. Its success is due precisely to these special characteristics, enhanced by long ageing in wood, which smoothes out the tannins and makes the taste pleasantly harmonious and persuasive.

"Campi Magri" is a Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore from Corte Sant'Alda, one of the most interesting wineries in Valpolicella. The estate has always been committed to the production of healthy and genuine wines, the pure expression of high quality grapes and a suitable terroir. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture The grapes come from the Val di Mezzane area, in particular from the Campi Magri, Prà alto, Retratto and Monte Tombole vineyards, located at an altitude of between 200 and 350 metres above sea level, with a very sunny, south and south-westerly exposure. The medium-textured, calcareous soil and the mild, breezy climate are perfect for ripening the native red grape varieties typical of the area, Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins for a dozen days. The wine is then re-fermented on the Amarone marc for a week, so that it acquires greater richness and aromatic complexity. Before bottling, it matures for about 2 years in 15-hectolitre cherry wood barrels.

The red Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore "Campi Magri" is one of the most prestigious labels of the Veronese Corte Sant'Alda winery, which perfectly expresses the style of a wine that makes softness, ripe fruit and immediate pleasantness the keys to its success, especially on an international level. To the eye, it is dark ruby red in colour with purple reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe cherries, small berries, hints of blackcurrant jam, spicy notes, nuances of vanilla, noble woods and bitter cocoa. With a good structure, it has a fine tannic texture, enveloped by dense fruity aromas, which express mature, warm and enveloping sensations. The finish is long, fruity and persistent.
