Valpolicella Ripasso “La Groletta” is a smooth and round red wine form the homonym estate of Allegrini family, with an aging in Slavonian oak barrels for about one year. Smooth perfumes of black cherries, red fruits and sweet spices animate a rich, structured and balanced taste
Valpolicella Ripasso "La Groletta" is a red wine in which fleshy, well-ripened fruit blends on the nose with sweet spices and delicate nuances of medicinal herbs. It originates from a territorial blend, in which Corvina and Rondinella are bred by Allegrini within the Corte Giara estate to give rise to a wine of high value, but also suitable for everyday consumption thanks to the very interesting price at which it is offered. Elegant and eclectic, it has a modern appeal that makes it a joker in the kitchen.
Corte Giara's 'La Groletta' is a Valpolicella Ripasso that is made from a blend characteristic of the Veneto terroir, Corvina, present in the final blend at 70%, and Rondinella. The vines of these two native varieties grow on the Corte Giara estate using the pergola system, in a vineyard facing south-east and characterised by the presence of limestone in the subsoil. The bunches of grapes are harvested by hand during the first week of October, and once they reach the winemaking facilities, they are destemmed. The grapes are softly pressed, and the resulting must undergoes an initial fermentation in steel; re-fermentation takes place on the dried skins of the Amarone, thus following the typical Ripasso production criteria. Refinement finally follows, in which the wine is left to rest for 11 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
This Valpolicella Ripasso "La Groletta" Corte Giara announces itself in the glass with a deep, concentrated ruby red colour. The range of aromas that envelops the nose is bewitching, resounding with notes that are fruity at first, and then move towards a combination of spicy sensations and touches of medicinal herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, soft, with a rounded sip that satisfies the drinker thanks also to a fine acidic vein. A red that bears the signature of Allegrini, a great name in Italian wine that confirms itself with a product of high quality standards.
