Bodegas Tierra winery's Abuela Visi is a rich and elegant white wine aged for 10 months in wood. The aging gives it roundness and smoothness, without losing freshness and minerality, also well expressed on the nose, in a rich bouquet of citrus, floral and herbal notes. Perfect with fish, shellfish or vegetarian pasta dishes
'La Abuela Visi' from Bodegas Tierra is a white wine from Rioja endowed with a gentle aromatic character and finely mineral notes. We are in Rioja Alavesa, the smallest of the three subzones into which the Rioja wine region is divided, located north of the Ebro River, in the province of Alava, from which it takes its name. This subzone shares with Rioja Alta a cool climate, a consequence of its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its high altitudes. Here, some of the most elegant wines of the appellation are born, expressing a territory with a very high winemaking vocation.
Bodegas Tierra's 'La Abuela Visi' is a blend of Viura (45%) and Malvasia Riojana (45%), combined with 10% of Moscatel grapes. The clusters come from a vineyard over 100 years old, cultivated sustainably, planted in the distant year of 1920 on limestone soils in the Labastida area. Harvesting is done by hand with careful selection of the grapes, which are then subjected to a pre-fermentation maceration of 24 hours before soft pressing. This is followed by the alcoholic fermentation of the must at low temperature in wooden barrels, the same wine containers where the 10-month aging phase takes place, of which 5 months are spent on fine lees.
In the glass, the white wine from Rioja 'La Abuela Visi' from Bodegas Tierra shows an intense straw yellow color with golden reflections. The intriguing aromatic bouquet expresses hints of citrus, aromatic and Mediterranean herbs, white flowers, and yellow-fleshed fruit, enriched by sweet spice notes and a refined mineral vein. The palate is fresh and enveloping, savory and delicately aromatic, with a structured and fragrant finish of long persistence. It is recommended to serve this Rioja Blanco at a moderately cool temperature paired with structured seafood dishes or mushroom-based first courses.
