PASSITO 'ACININOBILI' MACULAN 2018 - 37.5CL DESCRIPTION

Maculan's Passito "Acininobili" is a dessert wine made from the vinification of grapes from the native Vespaiola vine, a variety historically grown in the Breganze area, the hilly area north of Vicenza. This is a label of absolute excellence, renewing the great Veneto tradition in the production of seductive sweet wines. The grapes are allowed to dry and, thanks to the special climatic conditions of the area, are fermented once the berries have been attacked by the famous noble rot Botrytis Cinerea, which helps to develop particularly complex and rich aromas.

The sweet wine "Acininobili" is a Passito that comes from one of the most prestigious and innovative wineries on the Veneto scene. Maculan is a reality that has kept a familiar face but has always been able to look beyond the boundaries of the territory, seeking inspiration from the best and most famous wine regions with the desire to raise the level of production. Fasto Maculan was among the first to take the path of quality in the field of Veneto reds, directing production toward high planting density and low yields. Even in the field of dessert wines, he wanted to experiment to the fullest with the potential of the Vespaiola grape, creating a high-value label with an absolutely inimitable profile that ranks among the best expressions of Italian passiti wines. It is a great dessert wine to be enjoyed with some small dry pastries or foie gras.

Maculan's "Acininobili" dessert wine is a muffato of great personality. It is one of the most original and interesting Italian labels in the Passiti panorama and one of the spearheads of a winery famous for its continuous search for excellence. The vineyards of Vespaiola are cultivated on the volcanic hills of Breganze, characterized by soils of a tufaceous matrix. The wine is produced only by manual selection of the dried berries attacked by Botrytis Cinerea. At the end of the long, slow fermentation, the wine matures for at least 2 years in new barriques and ends its ageing with at least 6 months in the bottle. It shows a brilliant old gold colour. The olfactory profile is characterized by great richness and intensity of aromas, with notes of dried fruit, raisins, candied fruit, tropical hints, honeyed softness and hints of spice. The sip is persuasive, with enveloping and persistent aromas stretching harmoniously toward a very long and pleasantly refreshing finish.
