Berta Distillerie Amaro 'Il 28 di Via San Nicolao' constitutes a fine herbal liqueur that combines the complexity of brandy's aromas with herbs, in an original and balanced combination. The bottle's appellation is a tribute to the distillery's old headquarters, located in the town of Nizza Monferrato at Via di San Nicolao number 28. In 2002 the production reality moved to the current location in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo, the place of origin of the Berta family. Today the fourth generation is at the helm of the distillery, nurturing the long family tradition while maintaining excellent quality standards.
The family-run Berta Distillery's Amaro 'Il 28 di Via San Nicolao' comes from the infusion of aromatic herbs in a combination of hydrated alcohol, Casalotto brandy and sugar. The liquid is then placed in wooden barrels for aging for 2 years, during which time the aromatic baggage is enriched with irresistible scents and the taste is softened.
'The 28 of Via San Nicolao' Amaro Berta Distillerie has an intense amber color with ruby flashes. The olfactory range is broad, complex and deep in its vivid hints of gentian, rhubarb, calamus and cinchona. The taste is rich and generous, warm and enveloping, with a balanced and pleasantly bitter finish that confirms the sensations felt on the nose. The producer himself recommends trying this bitter as an ingredient in the "Berta Tonic," made with 12 cl of tonic water, 6 cl of Amaro 'Il 28 di Via San Nicolao' and a slice of orange. Of course, this liqueur can also be enjoyed on its own as a digestive end to a meal.
