AMARONE 'CAMPO DEI GIGLI' TENUTA SANT'ANTONIO 2017 DESCRIPTION

Amarone "Campo dei Gigli" is the most important label of Tenuta Sant'Antonio, which wanted to concentrate in a bottle the excellence of the best grapes chosen with maniacal attention and a winemaking and ageing process that is painstakingly detailed, with the sole objective of achieving the highest quality. The richness, complexity and depth of aromatic constitute the strengths of a wine, which has now become an ambassador of the Veneto throughout the world. Despite its imposing structure, it does not forego elegance, which allows its pairing at the table with beef stews, braised meats or stewed game dishes.

"Campo dei Gigli" is an Amarone from Tenuta Sant'Antonio created to enhance the estate's most vocated plots. The vineyards of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta are over 40 years old and are cultivated using the Veronese pergola method in Località Monti Garbi, in the municipality of Mezzane di Sotto, at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The soils are predominantly limestone matrix, with the presence of silt and sand, very suitable for the native red grape varieties of the area. The bunches of grapes are first selected in the vineyard during harvesting operations and then further selected before being dried for several months in special fruit lofts. Pressing is very soft, extracting only the flower must, which ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for several weeks. The wine matures in new tonneaux for a period of three years.

Tenuta Sant'Antonio's Amarone "Campo dei Gigli" wine is a magnificent version of the great red wine from Valpolicella, offering a high-quality taste experience. It is dark ruby red with light garnet hues, dense and almost impenetrable. On the nose, it conquers with many intense and rich aromas, ranging from ripe cherry to small berry jam, from the black cherry in alcohol to prune, enriched by hints of soft spices, vanilla, cinnamon, liquorice root, dark chocolate, cigar box and noble woods. Powerful, warm and structured, it has a velvety tannic texture and a deep and complex sip, giving a harmonious and very persistent finish.
