Barbaresco Musso 2021

Musso's Barbaresco is a warm and smooth red wine, produced in the heart of the Langhe region with the area's main grape variety, Nebbiolo. A broad, enveloping wine with a long persistence on the palate in which the juicy fruity notes of apricot and red fruits that strike the nose return, soon giving way to delicate spicy nuances reminiscent of cinnamon and tobacco. Perfect to drink right away, paired with a roast meat or game dinner, but it can be left in the cellar a few years to allow it to fully express its deep and persuasive character

BARBARESCO MUSSO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Musso's Barbaresco is a Piedmont red wine with a fruity and spicy aromatic profile that is remarkably pleasant. The history of this Langhe estate began in 1929 with Sebastiano Musso, who at just 23 years old founded his own small winery. Over the following decades the winery grew, and in the 1960s Sebastiano was joined by his son Augusto, who after working in Turin in the mechanical sector decided to return to his roots. Today the winemaking tradition is nurtured by Valter Musso, aided by his son Emanuele and grandson Luca Accornero, who are involved in the cultivation of typical Lower Piedmont varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis.

Musso Barbaresco comes from only Nebbiolo grapes from two different plots located between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, one characterized by sandy soils and southwest exposure while the other with clay-limestone soils and southeast exposure. Following the harvest, the clusters are transferred to the winery for alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with immersed caps, accompanied by periodic pumping over. After completion of the fermentation process, the mass is transferred to Slavonian oak barrels for aging for 2 years.

Intense garnet red with ruby hues is the color of Musso Barbaresco, which releases fruity scents of apricot, jammy red fruits and dried flowers on the nose, as well as spicy notes of pink pepper and tobacco due to the long aging in wood. The taste is full, warm and with excellent structure, balanced by decisive fresh-sappy drive and pleasant tannins in a lingering, flavorful progression. A well-balanced Barbaresco that is not afraid of food pairings as it can successfully accompany first and second courses with important taste.
