Enzo Boglietti's Barbera d'Alba 'Vigna dei Romani' is a red wine with a full, intense and juicy sip, with hints of red fruit and sweet spices returning to the nose. Soft, structured and warm, it can be left in the cellar a few years to discover its elegant evolution over time
Barbera d'Alba 'Vigna dei Romani' from the Enzo Boglietti production reality is capable of satisfying the senses with its richness and generosity of expression. This relatively young winery was founded in 1991 by Enzo Boglietti, who picked up the winemaking legacy of his paternal and maternal grandparents who owned prestigious vineyards in the Langhe. Over the following years, the estate has grown to its current 22 hectares, conducted under a certified organic system and reserved almost exclusively for the native varieties Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.
Enzo Boglietti's Barbera d'Alba 'Vigna dei Romani' comes from only Barbera grapes grown in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming within the commune of La Morra. The plants have an average age of 80 years and are rooted on medium-textured sub-alkaline soils, rich in clay and located at an altitude of about 400 meters. Manual harvesting is followed by sorting, destemming and crushing, followed by temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with 3 weeks of maceration on the skins. The subsequent aging phase, which lasts 22 months, takes place in oak barrels, 40% new, and after bottling the wine rests for an additional 6 months before release.
Enzo Boglietti Barbera d'Alba 'Vigna dei Romani' is a very intense ruby red color with faint purple hues. Heady, ample and generous hints of ripe cherries, berries and dark flowers characterize the olfactory texture, accompanied by a light and pleasant spicy vein. Dense and rich palate, balanced between full body, lively freshness and dusty tannins. Long savory and intensely fruity epilogue. A structured Barbera with character that can evolve for a long time in the cellar if properly stored.
