The Barolo "Castiglione" by Vietti is an expressive and very intense wine, rich in aromatic nuances, aged in barrel for 24 months. It expresses itself in nuances of cherries, wild flowers and spices. On the palate it is robust, soft and very balanced
Vietti's Barolo Castiglione is a wine that represents the history of the Langhe territory. It is a great Barolo of tradition. Before the custom of valuing individual crus or individual vineyards became widespread, the custom of wineries was to produce an assemblage of wine with grapes from various areas. A choice that always guaranteed the possibility of offering balanced and harmonious wines. Thus was born an elegant and intense Barolo, which after more than two years of ageing in wood, gives refined floral notes, aromas of small red berries and delicate nuances of tertiary evolution.
Castiglione Barolo is produced by one of the historical names of the Langhe. The Vietti winery is located in Castiglione Falletto and has vineyards in fine areas of Barolo, such as: Rocche di Castiglione, Lazzarito, Brunate, and Ravera, as well as in the Masseria cru in Barbaresco. Vietti was among the first to enhance the differences of the terroir, with labels dedicated to individual crus, but he did not want to abandon the custom of also making an assemblage wine, representing the tradition and also the style of the winery. Indeed, the possibility of choosing grapes from different vineyards, with often different and complementary characteristics, makes it possible to create a harmonious and balanced wine each year. Barolo Castiglione is perfect for those who want to get to know the general character of the great wines of the Langhe before turning to the facets of individual crus.
Vietti's Barolo Castiglione wine is made from grapes from different vineyards on the estate, which have an average age of between 8 and 40 years and enjoy slightly different microclimates and soils. Each parcel is vinified separately, and only later are the lots were chosen that will go on to create the Castiglione blend. Before bottling, the wine matures for about 24 months in large barrels and oak barriques. In the glass, it is ruby red in colour with garnet hues. The olfactory profile recalls scents of dried flowers, small berries, spicy nuances and black tea. The palate is elegant, with a balanced sip, delicate aromas, and a lively and subtle tannic texture. The finish is very persistent and closes on notes of pleasant freshness.
