BAROLO 'MONVIGLIERO' FRATELLI ALESSANDRIA 2019 DESCRIPTION

Fratelli Alessandria Barolo 'Monvigliero' represents a prestigious and elegant expression of the Verduno commune, endowed with a simply irresistible charm. Because of its fame and the history behind it, the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva di Monvigliero is the most prized cru of Verduno and absolutely one of the most vocated in the entire Barolo zone. This vineyard, which presents itself as a natural amphitheatre facing south, has been interpreted in a traditional manner and with great skill by the renowned family-run Fratelli Alessandria estate since 1978.
Barolo 'Monvigliero' from the Fratelli Alessandria winery is a pure Nebbiolo from vines over 50 years old, located between 250 and 310 metres above sea level on rather loose soils consisting of fine white marl, rich in limestone and silt. The hand-picked grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, combined with 22-30 days of contact between the must and the skins. Subsequently, the wine spends approximately 36 months ageing in French and Slavonian oak barrels of between 20 and 40 hectolitres, followed by at least a further 6 months of bottle ageing before release.
In the glass, the 'Monvigliero' Barolo Fratelli Alessandria exhibits a luminous garnet red mantle. The olfactory picture is colourful and elegant, typical and refined, painted by tones of black cherry, strawberry, dried leaves, rose petals, liquorice, cocoa and leather, framed by fine mineral and balsamic perceptions. The taste is structured, vigorous and flavoursome, with a brilliant freshness and rich tannic texture that drive the almost infinite persistence. This is a Barolo with a classic style, an authentic reflection of the precious cru to which it belongs.
