Barolo di Serralunga Rivetto represents Enrico Rivetto's idea of good, sustainable wine. On the Piedmont hills of Lirano, within the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, on the edge of the Barolo zone, stand the winery's estate, completely managed according to organic and biodynamic agricultural principles. Serralunga is a commune famous for the Barolo wines it produces: powerful, strong, austere expressions with persistent but elegant tannins. Rivetto has been able to tame these characteristics by dialoguing with the environment and territory, creating a wine that stands out in the long local tradition.
Rivetto's Barolo di Serralunga is made from Nebbiolo grapes from parcels of Serra, Manocino and San Bernardo, all within the same commune on hills 400 metres above sea level. The idea of an integrated ecosystem implemented by Enrico is encapsulated in one of his phrases: 'I have learnt an alternative way of working the vineyard that involves less chemical violence and more closeness to the plants'. So much so that the estate's hectares are distributed between vineyards, woods, hazelnut groves and one more in which alternative crops are cultivated. After manual harvesting, maceration lasts 20/25 days at a controlled temperature, with subsequent ageing for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Barolo di Serralunga d'Alba by Rivetto has wonderful orange reflections that stand out through the garnet red. It possesses all the characteristic aromas of Nebbiolo, such as those of roses and violets, and a balanced combination of ripe fruit notes such as raspberries and blackberries. The spicy touch closes the intense and intoxicating bouquet. Right from the first sip, this Barolo brings us closer to its world because it offers elegance and softness, with tannins that are defined but never intrusive, but rather harmonised and sober. Confident, always elegant and powerful.
