BAROLO 'VILLERO' GIACOMO FENOCCHIO 2019 DESCRIPTION

The passion and dedication of the Fenocchio family for Barolo is in the history of five generations of vignerons, alternating each other in the production of this great wine from the Langhe in particularly suited crus, among which Villero stands out. The family founder, Giovanni Fenocchio, argued that the tradition has taught local farmers over time how to produce Barolo and that therefore their responsibility was just to follow the precepts of the story: so thinks today Claudio Fenocchio, who decided to follow the line of his great-great grandfather, using for his wines just long macerations and spontaneous fermentations conducted by the indigenous microflora of the grapes, without accelerations or stress, according to the times and rules that Barolo requires, as a wine that wants to be waited. With the same setting, in his cellar Fenocchio doesn't use any barriques for aging, which would be too much flavoring for wine. The brothers Fenocchio personally supervise the work in the vineyard, with techniques capable of preserving the natural ecological balance of the land: the yields in the vineyard are balanced, neither too pushed to the amount, nor fiercely reduced, in order to achieve a balance between concentration of tannins and coloring matter, without penalizing the wine finesse. With these prerogatives, the family Fenocchio enhances the production of its vineyards, creating wines with a strong territorial bond, as in the case of Barolo Villero. Born in one of the most suitable crus in the area of Castiglione Falletto, on a hilly ridge that runs through the heart of the area devoted to this production, Barolo Villero responds to the abundance of limestone and clay content of the origin soils with a bouquet of great breadth and enveloping tannins, capable of supporting long aging.
