The Bianco Bio '12 e Mezzo' is a label with graceful floral aromas produced by the Apulian winery Varvaglione in compliance with organic farming regulations. As the name suggests, the '12 e Mezzo Bio' collection is dedicated to wines produced under a certified organic regime characterised by an alcoholic strength of around 12.5 per cent alcohol. These are bottles made from some of the most important varieties processed by the Varvaglione winery, including Primitivo as far as red grapes are concerned, and Chardonnay, Fiano, Malvasia Bianca and Verdeca among the white grapes.
Varvaglione Bio '12 e Mezzo' Bianco originates from a blend of white grapes cultivated in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming, thus excluding the use of insecticides, pesticides and other synthetic chemicals. Following the harvest, the bunches are transferred to the cellar, where they are vinified using the white wine method through soft pressing and subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 14 °C, a measure aimed at enhancing the wine's aromatic heritage. The maturation period of several months that precedes the final bottling also takes place in stainless steel.
To the eye, the Bianco '12 e Mezzo' Bio from the Apulian company Varvaglione shows an intense straw yellow colour. The aromatic bouquet is described by suave floral hints of mimosa that are accompanied by fruity hints of apple and pear, all supported by fresh hints of lemon peel. The taste development reveals excellent balance and pleasantness, as well as an intense citrus freshness that enhances the savoury timbre and the aromatic finish of good persistence.
