"Glu Glu" is a juicy and dynamic white wine produced by Cantina Giardino, an artisanal reality of the Irpinian territory. It shows a veiled golden yellow color, due to the few months of contact with the skins, with an aromatic profile of citrus zest, herbs and savory sensations. The palate is pleasant and direct, with a lashing freshness and an integrated acetic note!
'Glu Glu' is a name that says it all: Cantina Giardino makes a full-blooded interpretation of one of the most profoundly characteristic white grape varieties of the Irpinian territory and historically indigenous to the Campania region. The low alcohol content and total absence of synthetic products make this white particularly dynamic and aromatically impressive.
Cantina Giardino elaborates its 'Glu Glu' through the most natural processing possible of the white berry variety typical of the area, bred on its own plots in the northern part of the province of Avellino. Extending over a total of around 7 hectares, they are divided into numerous plots, scattered within the areas of several municipalities. Daniela and Antonio De Gruttola have worked extensively to preserve the old plantings in the area and compose their own mosaic of vines, which are now between 50 and 100 years old, all conducted according to the rules of organic farming. This Bianco could be a unique project, as it comes from the fruit of a parcel located in Montemarano that could not be harvested in time, due to three uninterrupted weeks of rainy weather. The manual harvest could only take place on 9 November and all that water miraculously turned into a delicious wine: 5 days of maceration on the skins and spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. Refinement on the fine lees continues for several months and bottling does not involve clarification, filtration or addition of sulphur dioxide.
"Cantina Giardino's 'Glu Glu' is a white wine that is already striking to the eye thanks to its intense, luminous colour, all centred on the sunny yellow. The aromas are penetrating and forthright, dynamic between a tropical and citrus fruitiness and light floral, with a slight hint of honey and an accompaniment of ripe white flesh. Crisp on the palate, it stretches out with immense freshness and distinctly citrine hints. The agility of drinking makes it perfect for both summer aperitifs and spring snacks.
