SARDONICO PODERE RANIERI 2022 DESCRIPTION

Podere Ranieri's Bianco Toscano 'Il Sardonico' is a full and balanced expression that originates from a unique blend of Trebbiano Toscano, Viognier and Manzoni grapes. This peculiar bottle is the result of the Ranieri family's desire to create a wine that looked like "a line drawn from Maremma towards the terroirs where great white wines are born". Thus, after years of research and experimentation, 'Il Sardonico' was born, whose name derives from the action of the same name that expresses a mocking and sarcastic irony, the same as the smile of the Mona Lisa.

Podere Ranieri 'Il Sardonico' Bianco Toscano is produced from a blend of Trebbiano Toscano, Manzoni Bianco and Viognier, varieties grown in the Massa Marittima area on silty-sandy soils characterised by a high presence of clay and skeleton, located 60 metres above sea level. Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates and after soft pressing of the grapes, the must is conveyed into stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation. The ensuing 6-month maturation phase also takes place in steel and is followed by at least a further 6 months of bottle ageing before release.

Il Sardonico' Bianco Toscano from the Podere Ranieri winery has a brilliant straw yellow colour. The nose has intense aromas of citrus peel, peach, tropical fruit and wild flowers, combined with a light and pleasant mineral vein. On the palate it is soft and structured, at the same time endowed with great freshness and a taste finish that recalls tantalisingly savoury-mineral and citrus sensations. Due to its excellent structure, this label can be paired with numerous dishes, such as tasty seafood preparations, vegetable-based first courses or various cheeses.
