BIANCO 'PRUNECCHIO' FATTORIA DI SAMMONTANA 2023 DESCRIPTION

"Prunecchio" is an ancient estate located in the Montelupo Fiorentino area to which Fattoria di Sammontana dedicates the label of its white wine, vinifying the grapes it harvests in the adjacent vineyard. The cultural and environmental context in which the winery is located represents one of those hidden excellences so emblematic of the Italian panorama, expressed here through the telling of 8 centuries of history.
Fattoria di Sammontana produces "Prunecchio" through a blend of white grapes traditionally widespread in the Tuscan territory: Trebbiano brings saline tension and mineral depth, Malvasia is decisive on the aromatic thrust, a character it shares to a small extent with Sauvignon Blanc, protagonist with freshness and consistency. The three varieties come from a small plot extending over 1.5 hectares, with an average planting age of around 30 years and a density of around 3,500 vines per hectare, worked according to organic farming rules and biodynamic principles, implemented since 2012. Harvesting is done manually and yields are extremely low, settling around 30 hectolitres per hectare. In the cellar, soft pressing is carried out and spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts takes place in steel tanks. Ageing also takes place in steel, for several months on the fine lees.
Fattoria Sammontana's Bianco 'Prunecchio' offers a bright straw yellow colour with lively reflections. The aromas are intense and the nose is particularly snappy, marked by yellow fruits with some tropical accents and nuances that speak of open fields and wild flowers. There is great consistency on the palate, with the palate encountering a wine that is decisive and balanced, very fresh and of good consistency, well persistent along a finely mineral trail. The balance of the composition makes the taste particularly tasty and allows one to imagine rich aperitif pairings, with vegetarian or fish finger food, as well as platters of fresh and medium-aged cheeses.
