BIANCOLELLA 'FRASSITELLI' CASA D'AMBRA 2023 DESCRIPTION

The "Frassitelli" Biancolella from the Campania-based Casa d'Ambra winery is one of the flagship labels of this interesting winery, which manages an estate in the splendid landscape of the Phlegrean island. The winery's philosophy has always been geared towards enhancing the territory and the island's historical vines, in particular the Biancolella grape, the true oenological symbol of Ischia. The wine comes from a single vineyard, which sums up the best of the local characteristics, both in terms of soil and exposure. The result is a great white, particularly suitable for pairing with seafood dishes or with the classic rabbit 'all'ischitana'.

The Biancolella "Frassitelli" wine Casa d'Ambra is made from grapes that come exclusively from plots located within the Frassitelli Estate, truly a cru of the estate. The vines are cultivated at an altitude between 400 and 550 metres above sea level, on steeply sloping slopes facing south, south-west, characterised by the presence of terraces supported by dry-stone walls, built with local green tuff stones. The soils of volcanic origin, rich in green tuff, potassium and other mineral elements, and the Mediterranean climate, mitigated by sea breezes, have for centuries been the ideal habitat for the Biancolella vine, still cultivated using the ancient technique of the 'alberello', the italian name for the Goblet training system. Harvesting is carried out manually at the beginning of October, with the aid of a rack monorail to transport the grapes. After soft pressing, the must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for several months in steel tanks.

Casa d'Ambra's "Frassitelli" is a pure Biancolella that represents the highest expression the Ischian territory's grapes. The fruit of a suited area that's historically known for the excellence of its wines, it offers the sunny, marine flavour of typical of this variety that absolutely needs to be discovered. In the glass, it presents itself with a clear, bright straw yellow colour. The olfactory profile expresses delicate floral aromas of orange blossom, hawthorn, broom, aromas of white fruit, peach, banana, hints of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis and hints of iodine. The sip is delicate and flowing, with harmonious and elegant aromas, accompanied by a savoury streak that leads to a clear final freshness.
