BOLGHERI ROSSO MICHELE SATTA 2022 DESCRIPTION

Michele Satta's Bolgheri Rosso is the label that best represents the winery's spirit and style. It is the result of the winemaker's desired interpretation of Bolgheri. It comes from a vineyard specifically designed to express the idea of the territory through an original blend of different red grape varieties, selected for their complementary characteristics and adaptability to this area of the Tuscan Coast, with a very particular face. A sunny, bright place with a mild Mediterranean climate, which gives a very harmonious, rich and balanced wine.

Michele Satta's Rosso Bolgheri is one of the most famous wines of the denomination, a true reference point for getting to know its most authentic face. The estate was created in 1983 and immediately established a reputation for a range of wines capable of combining originality and respect for the typical characteristics of the Bolgheri terroir. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Teroldego vines come from the Torre, Vignanova, Poderini and Campastrello vineyards located in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci and are planted at high-density so as to obtain few bunches per plant. During manual harvesting, the ripest and healthiest bunches are chosen to be sent to fermentation, which takes place in steel and cement tanks in a spontaneous manner, using only indigenous yeasts, with maceration on the skins for several weeks, pumping over and punching down. The wine matures partly in cement and partly in second- and third-passage French oak barrels for a period of 12 months and completes ageing within 6 months in the bottle.

Bolgheri Rosso Michele Satta wine is a well-balanced cuvée, highlighting the suave and soft character of terroir with a Mediterranean climate that gives excellent ripeness. It conquers the eye with a dark ruby colour with light garnet highlights. The olfactory profile is marked by rich and intense aromas of blackcurrant, morello cherry, blueberry, blackberry, ripe cherry, hints of underbrush, humus, Mediterranean maquis herbs, blond tobacco, leather and spicy nuances. Harmonious and structured, it has a ripe and velvety tannic texture, enveloping a broad and aromatically complex sip, yet capable of retaining a vital fragrance, which is expressed in a fresh finish with good flavour persistence.
